Testing and Inspection of Emergency Eyewash and Showers

The ANSI Standard provides guidance by stating that plumbed emergency eyewash and safety showers should be activated often to verify proper operation and inspected it by annually. EHS strongly encourages laboratories to post an Testing Sheet near the eyewash to keep track and document that weekly activation is occurring.

• Ensure the unit is free of corrosion.
• Test the water flow for proper quantity, spray pattern
• Test the incoming water pressure
• Ensure the unit is the proper height from the floor
• Ensure valves are working properly.
• General cleaning for eye sprayers and frame body
• Ensure signs are posted.
• Provide checklist report & inspection tag.
• Consultancy & advice for internal inspection.
